A sea of blood in the ancient battle field
姉川は昔血の海青田風
A summer dense fog over the Inland Sea
A herd of deer with glittering eyes on the bridge
夏霧の瀬戸に鹿の目光る橋
"valley, ravine, gorgee "
Unprecedented heavy rain attacks the valley
Landslide and floods of driftwood
谷出水未曾有の豪雨流木も
A deep ravine
Delicate dim rays of fireflies
幾筋も渓に流蛍そこはかと
"shade, shadow "
Dens in the shades of bushes
Okinawa persons killed in the war
下闇の奥に洞あり民死せる
Shadows around me
My dead people come to talk
懐かしき死者来て話す盆の闇
